Our little Van Gogh

My little artist. I think more paint ended up on the table, chair and her body than on the paper!

Baby Update

We had a 3D/4D ultrasound done mid September (27 weeks) and got some surprising news. This ultrasound tech said that the baby is a GIRL! We were a little shocked, but the baby looked healthy, so we were happy with that news. The ultrasound was not performed by my doctor's office, but a company that just does ultrasounds. When I showed my doctor the pictures from the first ultrasound and this one, her comment was that she trusted the experience of Women's Hospital and did not know the education/background of the techs who performed this one. Oh, and that in her 25 years experience, the hospital had only been wrong twice! I'm going with girl and will be pleasantly surprised if it is a boy! One positive is that the nursery doesn't have to be converted to a little boy's room = less work! I probably will not have another ultrasound before the baby comes, so we'll have to wait until December to know for sure! Here are some pictures of our sweet baby. It was truly amazing to see!

Yummy Watermelon

Audrey and Brooke love to be outside. After helping Elmer wash the van, they decided to cool off by eating some watermelon. A wet and sticky mess...

First Day of Preschool

Audrey started preschool at Noah's Ark the beginning of September. She goes Tuesdays from 9-12 and Thursdays from 9-2:30. She loves it! Her teacher says that she is a great helper and listens really well which makes mom real proud! They can earn stickers for completing certain tasks each day and once they fill a row with five stickers they can get a prize out of the prize box. Audrey has not missed a sticker yet! The stations are voluntary and the reward was created to entice the kids to attempt/complete each station. At open house, we saw her sticker chart which was almost full and then looked at the other kids, and well, only one came close to Audrey and the others did not have many! She really gets excited about filling up a row and was even more excited when Ms. Karen, her teacher, had to get another chart because Audrey had filled hers up. My little overachiever! As we were pulling out of the parking lot on the first day, I sadly commented that we were leaving my sweet little girl at school, and Brooke yelled, "Yeah, Audrey at school!"

NeNe was in town for Audrey's first day of school, and we went to lunch to celebrate after we picked her up.

August Fun

August was a busy month for me and the girls. Audrey and Brooke left August 2nd with Uncle Hunt, Aunt Heather and the boys headed back to Louisiana to spend time with NeNe andMawMaw.

Elmer and I celebrated my birthday and our 10th anniversary while the girls were gone. It has been a great ten years, and God has richly blessed our marriage. The girls had a great time swimming, going to a jumping place, having sleepovers with their cousins and visiting family. I joined them on the 10th and had a great time visiting with family and friends. Aunt Katy and Uncle Micheal even came in from Arkansas for a visit. We had a cookout at Pawpaw Nick's shop and then left for Gulf Shores. We had a great time. Scarlett, Shelbi, Ms. Diane, Danette, Kara, Michael and Katy also joined me, Mom and the girls at the beach.

Audrey loved the beach. She made sand castles, rolled in the sand and even caught a sand crab by herself.

Brooke did not like the sand at all. If it got on her foot she would say, "my foot dirty, my foot dirty - clean it!" She loved the water and the waves as long as she was held and did not have to touch the sand. Her idea of playing in the sand was to lay in the lounge chair and reach it with her shovel.

We had a great time at the beach. I'm so glad we were able to get away and bring the girls.

Children's Museum

Uncle Hunt, Aunt Heather and the boys came to visit the end of July, and we went to the Children's Museum. The kids had a great time and really enjoyed all of the exhibits. One favorite exhibit for all of the kids used ping pong balls and golf balls. They had a few ramps to launch them on and a big funnel. Brooke really enjoyed placing the balls and watching them fall. In this same room, they had a section for cutting and designing pieces of paper to be placed over an air vent to watch them fly. This was Audrey's favorite, anything using scissors and paper can occupy her for hours. We had to drag them out that room! Click on Brooke below to see more pics...
